A move from Hoboken to Connecticut crosses two state lines in one day. The truck leaves New Jersey, drives through New York and ends in Connecticut. Two Guys And a Truck Hoboken plans that drive and both homes for you, from a Hoboken brownstone to a house in Fairfield County.
We move you between Hoboken, Hudson County and Connecticut. We do not do moves that start and end inside Connecticut.
Getting from the Hudson to Connecticut
From Hoboken, Jersey City, Weehawken or Union City, the usual truck route goes north to the George Washington Bridge. On the New York side, I-95 runs across the Bronx as the Cross Bronx Expressway and then up the shore into Connecticut.
When the bridge is jammed, there is another way. The truck can go north through Bergen County and Rockland County, cross the Hudson on the Mario Cuomo Bridge, and take I-287 east across Westchester to I-95 near Port Chester. It is longer in miles, but on some days it saves time.
Some roads are off the plan for any moving truck. The Hutchinson River Parkway and the Merritt Parkway are both closed to trucks and commercial vehicles. Our longer guide on moving from Hoboken or Jersey City to Westchester and Connecticut covers the river crossings in more detail.
Moving day at a Hoboken building
Hoboken streets are narrow, and parking is tight. Ask the city early about a spot for the moving truck, and we will help you plan around the rules. Many brownstones have steep stoops and tight turns on the stairs. Newer buildings along the waterfront in Hoboken and Jersey City often want a certificate of insurance and a booked elevator. We provide COI. Tell us which kind of building you have at both ends.
The papers you will sign
This move goes between states, so federal rules apply. We are A & A Alliance Moving Inc, U.S. DOT No. 967970, MC-432549, an FMCSA-authorized interstate household-goods carrier. Here is the order of the papers:
1. The written estimate. It lists your items and the services you asked for. 2. The FMCSA booklet "Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move." Read it before moving day. 3. The order for service. It confirms the dates and the addresses. 4. The inventory. On moving day, the crew lists each item and its condition. Walk through it with them. 5. The bill of lading. It is your contract and your receipt. Keep a copy.
Which Connecticut towns are quickest to reach
Towns on I-95 are the easiest trip from Hudson County: Greenwich, Stamford, Norwalk, Westport, Fairfield and New Haven. Inland towns such as Danbury take a different road and more time. Tell us the address, and we will tell you which route fits the day.
Common questions
Do you move people from Connecticut to Hoboken?
Yes. We load at your Connecticut home and deliver to your new place in Hoboken, Jersey City or another Hudson County town.
Why is this called an interstate move if it is so short?
Because it crosses state lines. Any household move that starts in New Jersey and ends in Connecticut follows federal rules.
Can you do my next move if both homes are in Connecticut?
No. We only take moves that cross the state line, with one end in New Jersey or New York.
